(UPDATED) "Randren", Tue Aug 4th

We have removed the Back Squat from today’s WOD. The 5am and 6am did the full WOD (Back Squat and Randren). The rest of the day will be just Randren. The rest of the classes will do the 2-2-2-2-2 back squat on Wed.

Tuesday’s Warmup (complete in 15 minutes):
DJM
3 rounds:
6 tuck jumps
8 lunges (walking or standing in place–keep weight in heel of front foot!)
10 squats

Tuesday’s WOD:

“Randren”
3 rounds for time of:
25 x power snatch (ground to overhead) 75/55
50 x wallball (20lb-10′ / 14lb – 10′) –yep, both to 10′
scale the weight as required but keep to 10′ target

Last week, we posted info about a movie, Food Inc, by filmmaker Rober Kenner which uses, as one of it’s many experts, Michael Pollan. Pollan authored The Omnivore’s Dillema (among other books) which discusses the food industry and choices we, as humans, have for food sources. In The Omnivore’s Dillema, Pollan references Joe Salatin of Polyface Farms in Staunton, VA. Joe is a remarkably well-spoken (English major) grass-fed farmer. He believes, truly, in ecological, grass-based farming. Here is a clip of him and his farm from USA Today that summarizes how he does business. He delivers to a co-op in Williamsburg. We will check out putting together a group order for him and keep you updated.
