WAS THERE ANY DOUBT…AGAIN!?!?!?

Today was the 2009 YMCA/Armed Forces Mud Run. over 2000 entered as individual competitors and 2200+ entered as teams. That’s 4200 people participating in a 5 mile run through sand, mud and obstacles.

WE ARE PROUD (BUT NOT SURPRISED) TO ANNOUNCE THAT THREE CROSSFIT HAMPTON ROADS ATHLETES WON THEIR AGE DIVISIONS!!!! ADDITIONALLY, TWO CFHR ATHLETES FINISHED FOURTH IN THEIR AGE DIVISIONS!!!

Robby: 1st place 20-24 year old males
Nicole G: 1st Place 25-29 year old females
Kevin C: 1st Place 45-49 year old males
Gabi L: 4th place 45-49 year old females
Mike L: 4th place 50-54 year old males
Mind you, we really don’t run at CFHR. Maybe once a month we’ll clog up the parking lot for 800m or 400m repeats (interspersed with other “tasks”), but we definitely don’t train for 5 mile races…we TRAIN FOR LIFE. Once again, the efficacy of CrossFit is proven.
WE ARE SO FREAKIN’ PROUD OF EVERY CFHR ATHLETE’S PERFORMANCE TODAY!! Elina, Judithe, Dennise, Heather M., Sheetal (the Ponytails Team), Dave E., Amie, Valerie, Ken and Eric B. Your beaming smiles and your well-deserved confidence at completing this incredibly challenging task (in spite of the fact you did not train for it!) is such a wonderful sight!! It’s easy to get stuck in viewing your CrossFit gains only in terms of CrossFit workouts and numbers. We hope this proves that no task in life is insurmountable…that the mental fortitude and physical effort you put into each WOD pays dividends throughout your life. Every drop of blood and sweat, every patch of torn skin and every minute of rolling on the ground exhausted from 12 minutes of intensity makes you tougher physically, mentally and emotionally. Leverage on this success. This is but one small example of the return on your investment of time and effort at CFHR. We measure success in CrossFit WODs by increases in Power. You measure CrossFit’s benefits to you by increases in your well-being. Today, you are all more powerful and well-off for facing the challenge and conquering it.

Note the CFHR Athlete conquering the obstacle and the non-CrossFitter next to her. Nice work Judithe

LIVE STRONG!!!!!
