Why We CrossFit

Starting around the age of 20 for women and 30 for men, we begin to lose competency in Functional Movement. our sedentary civilization has created a sanctuary for destroying these movements.  This is one (of many) reasons we CrossFit.  The 9 basic functional movements in CrossFit (squat, front squat, overhead squat, shoulder press, push press, push jerk, deadlift, sumo deadlift high pull and medicine ball clean) serve 2 primary purposes:  they are the foundatoin fo the majority of other more complex skills, but more importantly, they have direct applicability to successful independent living as we age.  We know that we will not have to struggle to stand from the seated position when we’re 50, 60, 70, or even 80…we have strong squats.  Face it, we were meant to task our bodies.  Check out the 9 functional skills on the CrossFit Exercise & Demos page.  LIVE STRONG!
