Your payments could be eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement
CrossFit is medicine
Your future membership payments might be eligible for reimbursement through HSA/FSA funds. CrossFit is medicine and can often count for tax-free spending – saving an average of 30%.
We’ve always found it to be so frustrating (and complicated) trying to use our HSA or FSA funds for essential items that should qualify. That’s why we’re working with TrueMed – a company devoted to driving HSA/FSA spending to products that are scientifically proven to improve metabolic health (like your membership at CrossFit Lake Wylie).
TrueMed will handle all the intricacies of using your HSA/FSA funds on your behalf, making the entire checkout process seamless and hassle-free.
What happens if you qualify?
- If TrueMed determines that fitness can help prevent or reverse a health condition you care about (making it eligible for HSA/FSA), they will send you a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). There is a one-time fee of $30 but that’s it!
- Once you are approved, just submit your future receipts and LMN to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. TrueMed guarantees reimbursement once qualified.
- TrueMed will send instructions to get reimbursed and their customer support team will be available to assist.
Why use TrueMed if I can just go to my doctor and get a letter of medical necessity?
On almost all insurance plans, the copay for a doctors visit is usually $30 or more.
- TrueMed takes 3 minutes; going to a doctor’s visit takes an hour plus.
- We have heard in many cases that doctors won’t prescribe exercise because 90% of doctors in the US didn’t take one class on nutrition or exercise’s impact on disease. In many major practices, doctors are only able to prescribe what their guidelines tell them to in the computer – which isn’t exercise.
- You might spend more time and money making a doctor’s visit to try and get your letter of medical necessity and they may not be willing to provide it.
- TrueMed provides customer support on the reimbursement process and a guarantee it will go through.
If you have a doctor that will write a letter of medical necessity for exercise so you can get reimbursed by your HSA/FSA then you don’t need to use TrueMed. We recommend you contact your HSA/FSA to ask questions about their specific process.
Additional information and resources:
- When we say you can save 30% – 40% that is the amount you save by reimbursing yourself with tax-free HSA/FSA funds. Your savings is equal to your income tax rate.
- You do not need to change how you pay for your membership at CrossFit Hampton Roads – TrueMed enables you to reimburse your payments with HSA/FSA funds – and you simply need to do it once per calendar year. In fact, we cannot accept HSA/FSA cards because those types of cards have restrictions on where you can use them and the charges don’t go through. Just keep paying for your membership as you always have with your current card on file and submit to be reimbursed by your HSA/FSA.

Questions? We (probably) have the answers!
How do I sign up for a a free class?
How long does it take to see results?
Results take time, but if you’re consistent, they will come. If you are a beginner, results will come fairly quickly; even in only 30 days, you may start to see a difference in your strength and overall fitness.
Do I get the chance to meet new friends?
Yes. We like to organize our fitness classes into small groups, as this allows you to meet others.
What sets you apart from other gyms?
We are a community of people that share the same fitness journey as you. We are here to build each other up - if you win, we all win.
How often do you recommend coming to workout classes?
If you are a beginner, we recommend starting with 2 to 4 classes a week, with the goal of working up to 5 a week after your first few months. It may take a while for your body to get used to training at that intensity, so listen to your body and know you will need recovery time between training days.

Do I have to be fit to join?
What payment methods do you accept?
We take all major credit cards and debit cards. We do not accept personal checks.
What kind of exercises can I expect during a workout?
Our class programming will include a strength portion in which you’ll work on something like Olympic weightlifting, deadlifting, squatting, or bodyweight strength or you may work on a skill like handstand push-ups. After the strength or skill portion of the class is complete, most days will involve a workout that was programmed for that specific day. Workouts can be anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes or more.
Do I have to stop eating my favorite foods to be healthy?
No! A healthy lifestyle has to be manageable and realistic for the long term. Do enjoy special indulgences and meals! The healthier you are, the healthier you tend to want to eat. You get hooked on feeling good, and junk food just isn’t worth it. By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates and measuring your intake of protein, carbohydrates, and fat, you will see dramatic, measurable increases in health.
